Linda's parents decided to move to New York soon after her birth. Upon their arrival, it settled down in the South Bronx and lived with her grandma. Linda's gran got an crucial influence in her life because she was the super hard willed lady & Linda admire her. Linda attend school & received her simple education in the Bronx. In the period of her primary school she met & became friends by having Louie Vega. Vega introduced her to a urban street music scene in which she learned to appreciate the Hip Hop style of the day.

Linda's fine dark features & yearn straight melanize hair earned her a nickname "India". Within 1985, when Linda wwhen 14 years old, she signed as back-higher singer for the Latin Hip Hop class action "TKA", world health organization scored the first "hit" sustaining "''I Can't Get No Sleep". She was under a tutelage of John "Jellybean" Benitez, a Puerto Rican DJ who was once involved with Madonna. Lindthe was besides a a portion instance model.

Linda wwhen nowadays known to everthing as "La India". Around 1994, La India together with Vega recorded an album of salsa dance tunes which paid tribute to "Santeria" titled "Vernaya y Ochun". La India's involvement by having Santerithe, a religion which is considered by some when "satanic", bothered several humans & so she was criticized by many. She late recorded "Dicen Que Soy" (It Say that We are) which was the top Billboard Hit & in which La India states that she doesn't care what others believe of her.

Inside 1996, La India worked with Tito Puente in the production of "Jazzin" the English version of some swing classics by owning the Latin twist for "RMM Records". She sang "Voces Unidas" (United Voices) around the duet sustaining Marc Anthony. She as well freed "India:Mega Mix" that equivalent month prior to divorcing Vega. Lthe India too sang a duet, "La Voz de la Experiencia" (A Voice of Case), by using Celia Cruz, "The Queen of Salsa". It was so that Celia known as La India "The Princess of Salsa".

Inside 1997, La India recorded "Sobre el Fuego" (Over a Fire) sustaining Puerto Rican salsa singer Kevin Ceballo as back-up, & was nominated for the "Best Latin Tropical Performance" Grammy Award and in 1998 she won an ACE Award.

In May 31, 1998 La India had deuce sold out concerts at the Luis A. Ferre Center of Beautiful Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She returned to the United States where Cable Channel UPN aired one of her shows. La India besides held concerts around Just released York's Madison Square Garden and around El Festival delaware la Calle Ocho in Miami, Florida.

In February 5, 2000, a good website ad was located within Billboard Magazine congratulating her on her 2nd Grammy Award nomination. In March 2000, she was featured in Vibe Magazine.
